What is a tracking number?
Tracking numbers, also referred to as waybill numbers, are used to identify and track your shipments. The tracking number is assigned to your shipment by DHL, and can be either a 10 or 11 digit number.
How do I enter the tracking number?
On the Track by number page, enter your 10 or 11 digit tracking number and click on the Track link. To enter multiple tracking numbers use the ‘Enter’ or ‘Return’ key after each tracking number entered; this allows you to track up to 25 different shipments.
Can I track my shipment without a tracking number?
Yes, if you don’t have your tracking number, but you know your shipment's reference number, you can still utilize online tracking. Just use the Track by Reference Number option. You can also Contact Us if you need additional assistance.
What is a reference number?
The shipper's reference number is a unique identifier assigned to the shipment by the sender while filling out the shipment information. This can be any combination of letters and numbers, such as a purchase order number or any other information that allows you to manage your shipments. Use the Track by reference feature to view a group of shipments by their shared reference number. Note: The more specific and unique your reference number is, the quicker it will be for your results to be displayed.
Can I get a copy of the delivery signature?
This is available for US shipments only. You can get a copy of the recipient's signature on your DHL Express or DHL Ground shipment by using our Get Delivery Signature tracking tool. Get delivery signature is offered for most packages shipped to the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. This tool allows you to search up to a year in the past. Shipment delivery signatures from other international locations are not available at this time.
What address information is shown on the tracking screen?
Domestic addresses:In the US, we display the company/customer name, along with the city, state and postal code. We do not show the street address on public tracking channels for security reasons.International addresses:Due to international privacy laws, DHL can only display the city and country name in the address field for international addresses.
When tracking online, I see the letters LD FD in the Shipment Status field. What does that stand for?
LD FD indicates that your shipment was Locally Delivered, and left at the Front Door.Other signed by codes that may appear in the Shipment Status field;SD – Side DoorBD – Back DoorGAR – GarageLOF – Left per Letter on File at StationLPN – Left per Signed note or Attempted Delivery Notice
What does it mean when the shipment status is, “With delivery courier”?
This checkpoint reports that a shipment has been received by the delivering courier and a delivery attempt will be made soon.
What does it mean when the shipment status is, “Consignee premises closed”?
If this was the first attempt to deliver the package another attempt will be made before the end of the following business day. If this was the second attempt please contact customer service. Contact us
What does it mean when the shipment status is, “Awaiting pickup by recipient as requested”?
Please contact customer service to get the shipment’s availability time and location. Contact us
I was not at home when the driver attempted delivery. Will DHL make another attempt?
Yes, the driver will automatically attempt delivery to a residence the next business day before 5:00 PM. After two attempts, the package will be held at the local DHL office until delivery arrangements are made. In most cases the local DHL office will return the package to the sender in 7 business days, unless previous arrangements have been made.
How long does the DHL-usa.com tracking site hold my shipment tracking information?
Full tracking information is retained for 90 days from the ship date.
How do I access delivery signatures that are more than 90 days old?
Delivery signatures are stored for 1 year from the ship date. To access delivery signatures for shipments that are no longer available via tracking, click on Track from the drop-down menu on the top of the page and select Get Delivery Signature.
What does it mean when the status of my package says: “Shipment Information Received”?
This means that DHL has received a manifest containing the shipment but that it has not yet physically entered the DHL network.
